u.v.ray is an internationally published writer. His work has been skirting the fringes of the underground literary scene for a period spanning three decades. He dropped out of school at the age of fifteen without any academic qualifications, spending the next twenty-five years drifting around bars and nightclubs across the U.K, Europe and the United States. His writing during this period was scribbled on beer mats, cigarette packets and various other scraps of paper. It’s almost certainly for the better that most of his writing during this time has been lost forever.
He had his first poem published in 1993 in Candelabrum Magazine and his fiction and poetry has since appeared in numerous publications around the world. His second chapbook Road Trip & Other Poems was published by Erbacce Press in 2011. A collection of short stories We Are Glass and the long-awaited novella Spiral Out were published by Murder Slim Press in 2013.
Although his work has frequently been contrasted with Charles Bukowski, Jack Kerouac, Albert Camus and William Burroughs he refutes these comparisons and counts amongst his influences The Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, Andy Warhol, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Gary Numan and Robert Frank, rather than any of those more literary icons.
