writing from the fringes

U.V.Ray was born near Birmingham, England in 1967. He started writing when he was eight years old. Most of his early adult work was scribbled on beer mats and cigarette packets and has almost certainly been lost for all time.

Although he remained true to his original ethos of writing on the move - in coffee shops, bars, train stations and hotel rooms - in the early nineties he started taking his writing more seriously and began submitting work to underground literary magazines, gaining his first published poem in 1995.

His work has since been featured in numerous magazines and anthologies around the globe and he has remained on the fringes of the literary scene for over a decade.

His first book of poetry The Blood In My Veins was published in 2005.

He lives in Staffordshire and aside from writing poetry has published articles and essays on a variety of subjects and is currently working on a novel.

U.V. has stated that he will not be accepting the Pulitzer Prize.

"U.V.Ray is a walking paradox. A man with a passion for the high brow arts, yet with an addiction to life’s lowest impurities."
